Today Mr Ntokozo Myeni officially launched the annual Ntokozo Myeni Under 15 Soccer Tournament 2024 at Ngwelezane Civic Centre alongside with the sponsors and supporters of the initiative, the likes of Orange Groove, Old Mutual, Somadisi Auto Mobile and the host Councillor, Mr Wiwi Gumede of Ward 28.
This annual tournament is one of the signature events that take place at Ngwelezane. It attracts a number of spectators from around Ngwelezane that comes to rally behind their favorite players, the event brings the atmosphere of unity and harmony. It also serves as a platform for scouting talent agencies to discover talent. Over the years the tournament have attracted big names in the football world. This year Mike Ntombela will make a special appearance.
14 Teams will battle it out for the 1st Position, weeks of training and preparation will be showcased this weekend. Already the tournament have contributed towards addressing some of the social ills that are facing Ngwelezane Township. The youngsters that will be participating on the 15th of June have been occupied with training and preparing for the tournament instead of roaming around the streets and getting exposed in bad habits.
