In addressing the escalating littering and illegal dumping happening around the City of uMhlathuze’s recreational parks, the City of uMhlathuze Community Tourism Organization have embarked on a Clean up Campaign drive aimed at mitigating excessive waste at the recreational areas.
On Friday the UCTO in partnership with Green Chapter Foundation, Mnce Legacy Tours, MoLyf Concept of DJ MO and various tourism products owners came in numbers to clean up Commodore Island at Richards Bay. The venue is a popular park which is surrounded by the ocean. It is the same venue where the Pure Soul experience and the Richards Bay Farmers market is hosted.
The UCTO will also increase the number of public bins at recreational parks to mitigate littering. While everyone is waiting for sufficient bins at the recreational parks, the tourism body urges the public to stop littering when making use of these parks.
