Cllr Thembi Qulo of ward 10 donates calculators and stationary to schools!

Cllr Thembi Qulo of Ward 10 in the City of uMhlathuze challanged all the citizens of the City of uMhlathuze to assist schools in the area of Kwa Dlangezwa with donating scientific calculators. The reception from the citizens was positive, as she managed to receive over 300 calculators from the citizens of the Sizzle City and private companies.

She allocated 50 calculators per school, the beneficiaries of this initiative is Ongoye High School, Qhakaza High School, Mbuyiseni High School and Qambokwethu Primary School.

This year the initiative was also endorsed by Sthe Khumalo who is also a student and he is from Ward 10, he donated Dictionaries to schools. His dictionary drive campaign is supported by African Bank Empangeni and other companies. Mbuyiseni High School will be the benefictiary school since they do not have access to the library as they are situated in deep rural areas of Kwa Dlangezwa.

Vodacom Shop Empangeni partnered with Cllr Thembi Qulo to introduced the E-Learning program to Kwa Dlangezwa Schools, an App that assist students and teachers to have access to academic information without using data. They also donated stationery packs and school bags to students.

On the issue of addressing the social ills and other challanges faced by the students which are not academic related, Isibani Development Partners introduced their services which revolves around addressing social ills and other related social challanges that students faces. The organisation works close with social workers to make them accessable to students.

Cllr Thembi Qulo is at the forefront fighting for the better academic results in her ward inpartnership with the School Governing Body, Principals, parents and private stakeholders. All high shools under her ward ard performing well in academics because of her constant intervention.
